What’s included
Hormones, thyroid, iron and vitamin D
These biomarkers are included in your health assessment. Select a biomarker to see what it measures.
- Iron Profile
Ferritin is the main iron-storage protein and is commonly used to assess iron stores. A low level usually supports iron deficiency, while inflammation, infection and some other conditions can raise ferritin.
Serum iron measures iron circulating in the blood, most of which is carried by transferrin. Levels can vary during the day and with recent intake, so the result is interpreted with other iron markers.
TIBC reflects how much iron could be carried by transferrin if its available binding sites were filled. It is interpreted with serum iron and transferrin saturation when assessing iron status.
UIBC measures the amount of transferrin binding capacity that is not currently occupied by iron. It is used with other iron tests to assess iron status.
Transferrin saturation shows the percentage of available transferrin binding sites that are occupied by iron. Low levels can support iron deficiency, while high levels may occur with iron overload.
- LH
LH is produced by the pituitary gland. In women it helps regulate the menstrual cycle and triggers ovulation; in men it stimulates the testes to produce testosterone. Levels are interpreted in the context of sex, age and reproductive stage.
- Oestradiol
Oestradiol is the main form of oestrogen during the reproductive years. It plays an important role in the menstrual cycle, reproductive function and bone health. Levels naturally vary across the menstrual cycle and different life stages.
- Basic Thyroid Profile
TSH is made by the pituitary gland and signals the thyroid to produce thyroid hormones. It is usually interpreted together with FT4 to assess how the thyroid is functioning.
FT4 measures the unbound fraction of thyroxine (T4), one of the main hormones produced by the thyroid. It is interpreted alongside TSH to assess thyroid function.
- Vitamin D
This test measures 25-hydroxyvitamin D, the main circulating form used to assess vitamin D status. Vitamin D supports calcium absorption and is important for healthy bones and normal muscle function.
You’ll see each result, with a doctor’s note, in the myGP app.
About this test
Is this test right for me?
This test combines selected reproductive hormones with thyroid, iron and vitamin D markers to provide additional insight into your women’s health during midlife and the menopausal transition. Results can help highlight areas that may benefit from further assessment, but hormone testing alone does not determine whether someone is perimenopausal or menopausal and should be considered alongside age, symptoms and menstrual history, and best discussed with your doctor.
