Sharing Cost of Living Resources on myGP®

iPLATO donates premium spot on myGP® to Local Authorities to share regional cost-of-living support services

myGP® by iPLATO Healthcare – part of the Huma Group – has teamed up with Local Authorities across England to improve resident access to local support services available during the winter.

myGP is the largest independent healthcare app in the UK in terms of users and usage. In the first quarter of 2023 – subject to free-of-charge Local Authority listing – the popular app will offer links to financial aid, housing, heating, mental health support and other healthcare services. The company has decided to donate this support as part of its commitment to keep residents safe and healthy during the winter months.

iPLATO’s CEO Tobias Alpsten explains: “We have a responsibility to support our current 2.7 million users in times of need. For many, this winter is tough due to the accelerated cost of living as well as challenges caused by the pandemic and NHS waiting lists. NHS General Practice is a natural place for residents to seek help for reasons that are directly or indirectly related to the 2023 winter crisis. But with GPs under very severe pressure themselves we must do what we can to divert some of this demand towards dedicated local services designed by Local Authorities.

The Office for National Statistics found 92% of adults in Great Britain reported an increase in living costs after inflation reached a 41-year high in October. Coupled with predictions of household post-tax incomes decreasing by a record 4.3%, people are having to navigate these pressures enduring some of the coldest months of the year.

Alpsten continues “Through our patient communication platform, which covers over half of the UK population, we have already supported outbound information campaigns in Liverpool City and Richmond upon Thames areas where our platform has been used to share links to winter pressure services.”

Any Local Authority wishing to improve signposting of their winter support services to residents their using myGP will receive the same help from iPLATO. Contact iPLATO for inclusion by emailing localsupport@iplato.com.
